Sharing - Effective Ways to use Flashcards

Recently, I've received some information about the effective way to teach your kids on flashcards. I find it useful for parents that are having flashcards at home. You can read the points as written below:

Tips for success in using the flashcards for creative, instantaneous learning:
1. Pick up any number of flashcards.
2. Present the flashcards rapidly to your child at arm’s length.
3. Showing the flashcards from the front to the back is okay, but the preferred method is to show them from the back to the front. (DIY – write the words on the top left hand corner of the back of the flashcards. Paste a small piece of scotch tape for easy thumbing and lifting up the flashcards.)
4. While flashing the flashcards, rapidly read the words out loud in a clear, high-pitched, enthusiastic voice. Be excited teaching! And be joyous all the time!
5. At the end of flashing, jumble up the flash cards. You may repeat the session any number of times. You may wish to wait for about 5 minutes although there is no harm doing it immediately. It is suggested to flash the flash cards in 3 sessions in one day. If your child does not want it, do not impose on him. Do not bribe him into doing it. Find another opportunity. All babies want to learn through play.
6. Always stop before your child wants to stop. This will keep your child’s eagerness, enthusiasm and expectation for the next session of flashing.
7. On the second day, retire 1 or any number of flashcards and replace it (or them) with the same number or any number of cards. Remember to be flexible and creative. Always let your child guide you as to what level his thirst is for learning at the moment. Chances are, your child will request to see the flashcards.
8. Do the same on the third day and onwards. The key to successful early learning is to be joyous about the whole process. Remember to smile, smile, smile!
9. At the end of every session, kiss and hug your child and exclaim how wonderful he is. Give him ‘high fives’! Tap on his shoulders, anchor him with all the positive messages. Programme into his subconscious that he is a super learner. And you leave to teach him. The word to use is ‘respect’ your child for he is superior to you. You are not superior to him in terms of learning.
